My approach to weight loss
Weight can be a triggering topic for many and something that lots of people may have a tricky relationship with. Someone’s weight is not their self worth. You are not more valued in society if you weigh less. You are not a better person if you are smaller. We all know these things and the media and clothing companies are starting to do a better job of promoting a diversified body image. However, we all grew up with images around us of thin models.
We should not be striving to conform to what the patriarchy says should be the ideal body. Being a certain size will not make us happy in and of itself. Criticising our bodies and speaking to ourselves in a negative way because of the weight that we are or the size that we are, is damaging and unhelpful. Expecting our post baby bodies to look like our pre baby bodies is negatively affecting our mental health. Why should our bodies be expected to be the same when there has been a human living inside?!
I love eating and exercising the way that I do, not because I want to “be skinny”. But because I like feeling strong and fit and energised. I like feeling like I can tackle things. I like feeling strong and I like being able to beat my boyfriend in a 10k (and at most other things too ☺).
I believe that in order to feel your best, mentally and physically, then it is best to be at a weight that you feel comfortable at. & this will be a completely different size for everyone. When you are at this weight, then you tend to have more energy (as you are eating lots of good, whole foods), participate in exercise or movement (which releases endorphins and makes you feel good), have more confidence and better self-esteem, feel comfortable in your clothes and speak more kindly to yourself. These are huge benefits that effect every part of your life; in work, with your children, with your partner, with your friends. If you feel energised, confident and happy then this emanates into all parts of your life. This is why I have a 90 day coaching program that is bespoke to you and will be focussed on helping you to achieve the weight that is right for you. Not to subscribe to society’s narrative about what we should look like. But to give women the choice and freedom to choose a happy, energised and confident future.
My 90 day program is not based on deprivation, or willpower or being miserable and hungry. There will be a shift in how you eat & exercise, but this will be based on what is right for you and your body. This is not a short term diet, but rather small changes to habits that will last for the long term and that will fit around your lifestyle. It will be fun. You will see results, but results that last as opposed to results that may only stick around for a few months only.
